Westland/Tai Poutini National Park
Mount Sefton from the Southwest
From high above I saw four horizontal darkening layers of the most exquisite evening light touching this harsh, rocky, mountainous terrain. At its extremes this light ranges from a sensuous yellow/cream to a quiet self-absorbing gun-metal blue/grey. The horizontal lines are held in tension by the vertical strata raking up in each consecutive ridge of rock. Moments after this photograph was taken it was dark.
Taken on Nikon F.4. 50mm lens. Kodachrome 64. Shutter speed 125th/sec.
