This photo relies on silhouetting and backlighting to create it's dramatic punch; not something I often do, though it was a very common style in the 1960s when I took my first photos. In Maori tradition the newly unfolding fern signifies new life, hope and regeneration. I stopped the aperture down from the correct reading to get the silhouette effect.
