Holy Mountain
$500.00
Close to modern day Chengdu (a city of 16 million people) is a mountain holy to the ancient philosophy of Taoism. As a landscape photographer who studied religious traditions at university I felt privileged to climb one of Taoism's most holy mountains, Mt Qingcheng, near Chengdu. As a philosopher of nature Taoism has had an enormous impact on my way of seeing the world. I climbed the mountain one day and was surprised to come across a small man-made lake in a narrow gorge. A ferry boat took you to the far shore where a Taoist goddess greeted you as you disembarked. Taoism is a spiritual philosophy most in tune with the organic natural world.
