On a few occasions, one image feeds another. In this case in point, I set up this diptych of the sunrise over the ocean to complement my Moonrise diptych taken from the same spot several years before. The sun, the light source of all landscape photography, is so strong you can't capture it full in the sky, as you can the moon, for it would underexpose all the other objects in the photo and cause flares across the lens. Hence this photo anticipates its title. I love the shimmer of wind across the waters like a creation metaphor of the breath of life.
Taken on Asahi Pentax 6/7, 105mm lens. 100 ASA Ektachrome film. Aperture F.11.
