As a mountain climber (more so in my earlier adulthood!) and surfer, I have always been drawn to the ocean and the mountains and always looked to the sky from whence the weather comes. From my home beach in Nelson I see the far away western ranges which the eye is lead to from a small river in the sand. On windless winter days there is a peace in the days ending. On this photo I deliberately chose not to use a split neutral density filter to bring out more detail in the foreground. I love the dark solid base.
