This photograph was taken right at the end of dusk, just before dark, and the image is much bluer than I remember my eyes seeing (which is probably reciprocity failure in the film!) I love the blue, as dense and dark as a Mark Rothko painting, and I love the heavy colour in both the sea and sky so close to each other. I weighted both the elements equally, which seemed natural even though it breaks the compositional rule of not putting a line through the centre of an image. The glowing moon is still catching distant yellow/red evening light from beyond the horizon, and the horizon, for some reason, carries a dominant dark blue line in this photograph.

Taken on Asahi Pentax 6/7. 105mm lens, 100 ASA, Ektachrome film. Aperture F8 for two minutes.
