Marlborough Sounds

$145.00

The Marlborough Sounds are a continuum of the Southern Alps but have been tipped into the sea by massive geological faults. The are thus termed "drowned valleys". A distant helicopter image reveals their mountain ridge line structure and the ocean invading the valleys. Receding ridge lines usually create a blue-on-blue effect but this time the silver clouds and sea intrude through the space.

Taken on Asahi Pentax 6/7. 105mm lens. 100 ASA Ektachrome film. Aperture F5.6.
