As morning mist lifts on a small Fiordland lake you feel a silence is about to be broken. I made a simple photo by using a big snaking reverse 'S' composition, from the foreground trees through the mid-ground peninsula up to the high peaks beyond. The emerging clumps of diorite rock echo the forms of the sturdy bonsai-like beech trees in the foreground.
