In strong parallel vertical lines, dark tree trunks run through the picture frame creating an agitated feel. Yet in contradiction to this mood is the softening effect of the mist which touches everything. I see this image as another study of shades of green as in my South Westland rainforest photo, though more formally composed. These ancient beech trees on a high ridge in the Te Urewera National Park are often covered in mist.
