Having studied Taoism at university and fallen for its wisdom I was delighted to climb Mt Qingcheng on a trip to Chengdu. It is one of the holiest of all Taoist mountains purported to be where Taoism originated from. As a philosopher of nature Taoism has had an enormous impact on my way of seeing the world. It was Autumn and the ginkgo were yellow – an auspicious colour of the middle way in Chinese wisdom.
