I've always loved colour photography over black and white simply because of the extraordinary subtlety of colours like these greens. Over 100 years ago a traveller through this South Westland rainforest, Maud Moreland, wrote a book on her journey through this same forest saying she was 'among the living green'. Although, growing in a temperate climate this forest type is aptly named rainforest because it carries most of the features of its tropical counterparts; from waterlogged soils to lianes, moss infestations, numerous fern species and a diversity of tall canopy trees.

Taken on Asahi Pentax 6/7. 45mm lens. 100 ASA, Ektachrome film. Aperture F22.
