From high above I saw four horizontal darkening layers of the most exquisite evening light touching this harsh, rocky, mountainous terrain. At its extremes this light ranges from a sensuous yellow/cream to a quiet self-absorbing gun-metal blue/grey. The horizontal lines are held in tension by the vertical strata raking up in each consecutive ridge of rock. Moments after this photograph was taken it was dark.
