These rings are created to mimic the journey a kowhai seed may have to take in order to “rough up” to be able to germinate. In order for the kowhai to germinate it needs it hard outer shell roughed up, such as being tumbled down a stream or river. In these pieces I have related this to the journey one might take in order to reach their goals. It is like life with its many ups and downs on the way to achieve our intentions and goals.
